Denver Area Council Kick-off Luau

Pi Phis from the Aurora, Denver, Evergreen, and Highlands Ranch clubs came together as one group to kick off the 2008-2009
year. Entertainment provided by the Colorado Ukulele Orchestra and a traditional Polynesian fire dancer. Food, fun, and
sisterhood made the night a wonderful success!

Horseback Riding

Denver Pi Phis hit the horse trail at Cherry Creek State Park for a late Sunday afternoon ride. The hour-long ride was followed by a
steak dinner at Trail Dust. Check out the ride!
Cultural Potluck

For the October General Meeting, Denver alums gathered at the home of Indiana Delta Sarah Riopelle, bringing with them a wide
variety of food reflecting their culture, childhood, or favorite food! The spread included Italian meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, taco
casserole, quiche, green salad, cheesy taters, pumpkin cake, and Oreo balls, as well as numerous other delicious dishes.
Thanksgiving Cooking

As has become a November tradition, Denver Pi Phis gathered at member Sue Penner's home for a lesson in cooking traditional
Thanksgiving dishes. This year's treat was Yam Pecan Casserole. As always, Sue proved to be a willing and excellent teacher.
Angel Exchange Holiday Party

In what has become an annual tradition in the Denver Club, Pi Phis from every generation gathered at Barbara Mendicino's
beautiful Denver Country Club home to celebrate the holiday season. Following a wonderful pasta dinner from Buca di Beppo,
angels of all shapes and sizes were exchanged in white elephant style. Though there was far less stealing than in years past, as
always the Angel Exchange showcased many unique angels and provided many a laugh. Join the fun here.
Pi Phi Snow Bunnies Take Over Breck
January 9-11, 2009
In a first for the Denver Club, 11 Denver Pi Phis headed up to Breckenridge, CO for a weekend in the snow. With skiing,
snowboarding, snowshoeing, and shopping on tap, these ladies took advantage of the opportunity to get to know each other better
and truly connect as Pi Phi alumnae. Check out the trip here.
American Heart Month Celebration

Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the US? In celebration of American Heart Month, Denver Pi
Phis were joined by American Heart Association volunteer Sherry, who shared her story of survival. Diagnosed at the age of 20
with heart disease, Sherry had quadruple bypass surgery at the age of 39, and very nearly lost her life. As a volunteer, Sherry
shares her story with groups like Pi Phi, and helps spread the word about the AHA's Go Red for Women campaign. You can learn

stories of their own chapter traditions and sisterhood, members traded homemade cookies in celebration of friendships new and

A Night at the Ballet

In another installment in this year's Adventures in Pi Phi, Denver members headed out to the Colorado Ballet's performance of A
Midsummer Night's Dream. In all, 22 Pi Phis of nearly every generation attended the show.
Founders' Day

Though a surprise spring blizzard forced a reschedule, nothing could stop Denver-area Pi Phis from honoring our 12 Founders in
the annual luncheon, held this year at Pinehurst Country Club. Co-Chairs Hillary Moore and Andrea Hobbs and their committee
put together a fun-filled agenda, complete with door prizes and a special keynote address from former Colorado First Lady and
Texas Gamma Frances Owens. In line with this year's theme, "A Journey in Pi Phi," Frances shared the story of some her most
meaningful friendships and how those friendships have carried through her life's journey. Mrs. Owens' oldest daughter, Monica,

Year-End & New Officer Installation

Convening at Philanthropy Co-Chair and Nebraska Beta Amy Wilson's house for a year-end celebration, the Denver Club
welcomed the new Executive Board, under the direction of new President Michelle McClean, and thanked all the outgoing officers
for the time and energy they have given to the Club this year. Take a peak at some pre-summer fun.
